The 2nd Massage championship of the Nordic countries has been successfully held

While expecting the golden autumn and the Health Month of city Jūrmala, on September 29 and 30., P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia for the second time was held The Massage Championship of the Nordic countries, which was organised in cooperation with International Massage Association.

According to regulations, the championship was held for two days. On the first day, students demonstrated their skills and knowledge, on the second day - professional masseurs. On both days of the event, the participants competed in the classical massage discipline and in the freestyle massage program. This year one could see that the participants of the championship had carefully prepared, thinking both about the aesthetics of their work environment and the type of massage.

The championship was opened by the director of P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia Iveta Strode, Chairman of the Board – of the Association of Latvian Masseurs Rita Grīnfogele, Deputy of the Jūrmala City Council Dace Riņķe, and the founder and CEO of the International Massage Association Jeppe Tengbjerg, who motivated the participants to be confident, to show the jury the best presentation, as well as to enjoy the championship.

On the second day of the championship, the winner of the 1st Massage Championship of the Nordic Countries in freestyle discipline Gatis Goba held a speech. His prize was an invitation to participate in World Championship Massage 2023, which in Denmark was organized by International Massage Association. Gatis Goba wished his colleagues to develop professionally, share knowledge and develop mastery of their work.

30 participants had applied for the championship. On the first day of the championship the participants were from: The Red Cross Medical College of Rīga Stradiņš University, International College of Cosmetology, Riga Medical College of the University of Latvia, University of Daugavpils, P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia, Higher Education Institution Klaipėdos valstybinė kolegija, Klaipėda Ernestas Galvanauskas Vocational Training Centre, Kaunas kolegija/ Higher Education Institution, Vilniaus kolegija/ Higher Education Institution. On the second day of the championship the professional masseurs represented health care and beauty care organisations and private practises.

At the end of the two days, participants and visitors of the championship were given the opportunity to participate in practical master classes led by representatives of the International Massage Association –Jeppe Tengbjerg and Kinga Katalin Jenei.

Classical massage – 1st place Emilija Zubrickiene (Lithuania), 2nd place Viesturs Kursītis (Latvia), 3rd place Laurynas Garbstas (Lithuania).
Freestyle massage programme – 1st place Emilija Zubrickiene (Lithuania), 2nd place Natlija Mockiene (Lithuania), 3rd place Laura Eidininkaite (Lithuania).
30.09.2023. the winners of professionals championship day:
Classical massage – 1st place Alvils Plivčs (Latvia), 2nd place Romāns Golubovs (Latvia), 3rd place Mārtiņš Lauva (Latvia).
Freestyle massage programme – 1st place Benita Bartoševičienė (Lithuania), 2nd place Mārtiņš Lauva (Latvia), 3rd place Romāns Golubovs (Latvia).

The special prize from Līga Nature SPA received Ilona Sernaite (LT) and Inese Volrāte (LV), and a special prize from Hotel Jūrmala SPA received Uldis Riekstiņš (LV) and Aurika Počtarenko (LV).
