OBJECTIVES
The overall objective of the project is to support relatives of people with addictions by providing them with ready-to-use tools and methods. Firstly, the project aims to provide knowledge and proven methods directly to the relatives. Secondly, it aims to support specialists who work with these relatives.

ACTIVITIES

The project is planned for a duration of two years and will include various activities:

  • Development of a Methodological Guide for Organizations – the methodology will serve as a theoretical foundation for the upcoming project activities.

  • Development of a Training Programme for Specialists Working with Relatives – based on the methodological guide, we will create a structured and tested programme for organizations.

  • Development of a Self-Help Toolkit for Relatives of People with Addictions – the aim is to create a guide that helps relatives access support independently, without the direct presence of a specialist.

​Transnational meetings are planned in Lithuania, Iceland, and Latvia during the projhect. The kick-off meeting will be organised by the community "Aš esu" in Lithuania.

Kick-off meeting of project partners (2026)
 

Nordplus Adult Project “Supporting Relatives of Individuals with Addiction: A Comprehensive Program for Emotional Well-being and Constructive Communication” Kick-off Meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, July, 2026.

Ina Vīksniņa, Head of the Social Care Department at the P. Stradiņs Medical College of the University of Latvia, and Aiga Grauduma, International Coordinator, participated in the Nordplus Adult project kick-off meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 16-17 July 2026. The meeting was organized by the project coordinator, the non-governmental organization “Aš esu”. During the event, all project partners from Lithuania, Latvia, and Iceland met in person.

The participants presented recent research findings on support available to relatives of individuals with addiction in each of the project partner countries. They also discussed project tasks, timelines, and specific objectives. The next planned meeting will take place at the partner organization “IS-IOGT á Íslandi” in Iceland in November 2026.
